History of Hymns | GBOD | Equipping World-Changing Disciples

今早这首诗歌,是赞美诗338首,第三段第一句原本是“Join hands then,brothers of the faith",后来被美国卫理公会的Lawrence Stookey (b. 1937)重写成 “ Join hands, disciples of the faith,为的是要能充分反映男女性别平等价值观及表达出加拉太书3:28强调的教会合一精神。

History of Hymns | GBOD | Equipping World-Changing Disciples

1 In Christ there is no east or west,
in him no south or north,
but one great fellowship of love
throughout the whole wide earth.
2 In Christ shall true hearts everywhere
their high communion find;
his service is the golden cord
close-binding humankind.
3 Join hands, disciples of the faith,
whate'er your race may be.
All children of the living God
are surely kin to me.
4 In Christ now meet both east and west;
in him meet south and north.
All Christly souls are one in him
throughout the whole wide earth.

EMILY's List: Ignite Change

Balancing Politics with Gender
The two major political parties are still trying to get more women into elected office today. The problem isn’t that people won’t vote for a woman; it’s that many qualified women need to be convinced that they are qualified to serve, according to Marcy Stech of EMILY’s List, an organization that recruits and helps Democratic women to run for office. (EMILY is an acronym for the words “early money is like yeast,” an oft-used truism about political-candidate fundraising.) “What we see is that when women run, women win. But they need to be asked.” Many also need to be reassured that they can have a political life and a family life.
