我曾经拥有一个小康之家：与祖父、父母和三个妹妹生活在一起，日子简朴！后来，祖父去世了，大约在我22岁左右。至于父亲，则是一个爱家、尽责养家、刻苦耐劳的人。他和妈妈一起经营这个家，为了工作而搬迁了六次和越过三个州才拥有了属于自己的家。 父亲忠于婚姻的一夫一妻制，至死不渝，这是我家的光荣！ 母亲一直是个父亲的好伴侣也是好管家，更是个好厨师，一直赢得我们全家爱戴。后来父亲因病安息主怀，享年65岁。那一天，正好是我和秀琦申请婚姻注册的日子。 遗憾的是，我虽然是他们唯一的儿子也是三个妹妹的哥哥，却是迟婚，让父亲等了40年却等不到我成婚之日。 无论如何，办完父亲的丧事之后，2004年5月29日，我和秀琦正式注册结婚了；主持和注册婚礼的是已故张恩民牧师，勉励新人的是郑民兴牧师。 我们终于完成了父亲的心愿，延续这个“张”家的根。可喜的是，太太很快就有喜了，我常陪伴她去作检查，到第九个月时，医生检查后说她羊水不足，要提早进院观察，于是在2005年2月19日凌晨，透过剖腹生产。我们的儿子-守信，提早来到这个世界。 当我们回忆过去时，更应该珍惜今天，就是家有家人陪伴就该满足，就要享受幸福。

EMILY's List: Ignite Change

今天，美国两大政党仍在努力让更多妇女当选公职。招募民主党女候选人并助其竞选的组织“埃米莉名单”（Emily's List）的成员马西·斯特奇（Marcy Stech）指出，问题不在于人们不投票给女性候选人，而在于需要说服很多具备条件的妇女相信她们有资格担任公职。（埃米莉[EMILY]是“early money is like yeast”[早来的钱就像酵母]这几个词的首字母缩写，这句老话常用来形容政治候选人筹款。）她说：“我们看到的是妇女如参选就能当选，但她们需要别人请她们竞选。”很多妇女还需要经说服才相信，自己能够兼顾政治生活和家庭生活。
Balancing Politics with Gender
The two major political parties are still trying to get more women into elected office today. The problem isn’t that people won’t vote for a woman; it’s that many qualified women need to be convinced that they are qualified to serve, according to Marcy Stech of EMILY’s List, an organization that recruits and helps Democratic women to run for office. (EMILY is an acronym for the words “early money is like yeast,” an oft-used truism about political-candidate fundraising.) “What we see is that when women run, women win. But they need to be asked.” Many also need to be reassured that they can have a political life and a family life.
